Senator McCann's statement on Senate Democrat budget vote May 23
Wednesday, 05 23, 2012
Senator Sam McCann issued a statement about a Fiscal Year 2013 budget plan presented May 23 by Senate Democrats.
“The budget votes that we took were the Senate Democrats’ version. It represents the highest spending plan under the Dome. There is no other plan being floated out there – including the Governor’s – that would purport to spend this much,” Senator McCann said. “I voted ‘no’ on the three budget bills this evening because I believe that if this budget version were to pass, were to ever take effect, that the Democrats ‘temporary’ income tax increase that was initiated last year will become permanent.”
