During the final hours of the spring session May 31, the focus in the Senate was on a new state budget and funding for downstate facilities such as the Jacksonville Developmental Center (JDC).

Senator Sam McCann questioned the sponsor of the budget bill to ensure that funding for JDC was, in fact, included in the budget bill that he and his colleagues were about to vote on.

Senator McCann voted “yes” on Senate Bill 2454, which passed 37-21.
