McCann statement on passage of bipartisan property tax freeze
SPRINGFIELD – State Sen. Sam McCann (R-Plainview) released the following statement after the Illinois Senate passed a bipartisan property tax freeze.
“This is good legislation that finds a solid middle ground in the property tax debate. This is only a two-year freeze, so it won’t devastate our schools or local governments, but it will give us enough time to see how the idea is working and decide whether to extend it. Our homeowners have been hit harder than the residents of nearly every other state, which is why we need to put this idea into action. I am proud to have voted in the affirmative and I hope the House will now take up this issue and send it to the governor for his signature.”
