Sen. McCann’s statement on the Governor’s State of the State address

SPRINGFIELD – State Sen. Sam McCann (R-Plainview) released the following statement following the Governor’s State of the State address:

“The themes from the Governor’s addresses haven’t changed much in the last four years. I agree that we need bipartisan cooperation aimed at reforming what has too-often been a broken state government. We all may have different ideas about how to fix the system, but there is common ground to be found. What the state and this effort have been lacking is real leadership from the top. What we need isn’t found in a speech, it is the commitment to work together to solve major issues.” “I am hopeful, yet realistic about the upcoming spring session. As always, I stand ready to work around the clock with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to pass a balanced budget and protect the rights of our citizens. We can’t have another budget standoff that hurts people and businesses, and we have to make sure any solutions don’t fall on the backs of our hard working families.”
